The Monterrey International Film Festival had this Sunday a special function where it presented the winning works of the UANL 2020 Short Film Festival.

According to the tradition, in alliance with the University, through the Extension and Culture Department, the ficmonterrey gave space to the projection of the winning works of the call, who received 33 short films – 16 short films in general category and 17 in a special category- from 14 schools and faculties of the UANL.

In the General category, the winning works were “Sugar”, by Sara Gabriela Arredondo Mendoza, of the Architecture School, in the first place; the second place was for “Quarantine”, by Iaf Ueman Alcántara Sánchez, from the Pablo Livas Industrial and Technical High School and in third place went to “Yakei: The Night Watchers”, by Joshua Samuel Rincón Ramos, from the School of Public Accounting and Administration of the UANL.

In the Special category, the winning short films were “Los Niños perdidos”, by Emanuel Sena Galeana, from the Visual Arts School; “Desde mi pantalla”, by Luisa Valentina Frassier Canache, from the Visual Arts School and “Castigada”, by Marlon Fabricio Romero Algaba, of the Visual Arts School, first, second and third respectively.

The jury made up by Janeth Aguirre, executive director of the ficmonterrey; Andrés Bermea, journalist, producer and conductor; and Jesús Torres, coordinator of Cinematographic Activities of the Extension and Culture Department of the UANL, highlighted three works with honorable mentions.

The recognition went to “Piojo”, by Tadeo Osvaldo Hernández Silva, of the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering School in the General Category, while “Coliseo” by Gabriela Ramírez Zúñiga, of the Communication Sciences School, and “Ave” by Alejandro Medina Vega, of the Visual Arts School, received the same in the Special Category.

The short films are from students of the High School #2, High School #15, Pablo Livas Industrial and Technical High School, Architecture School, Visual Arts School, Communication Sciences School, among others.
