On the second day of activities, the Monterrey International Film Festival paid a well-deserved tribute to the Council for Culture and the Arts (CONARTE) for the outstanding contribution to culture in the state of Nuevo León.

The director of the Festival gave the Cabrito de Plata to Ricardo Marcos, the president of the institute.

«It is a great honor for me to present Master Ricardo Marcos, president of the Council for Culture and the Arts of Nuevo León, this Cabrito de Plata, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of CONARTE, but also in a very special way in recognition of the effort that this institution has made to promote the state film, the diffusion of local, national and global film, and the creation of new audiences for cinematography. Congratulations and thanks so much”, he said.

For his part, Marcos González expressed gratitude for the recognition in a complicated year such as this 2020 has been and described as resilient the work of Alejandra Rangel, first president of the institution, who passed away a few days ago.

«Our relationship with the FIC has been long, and of these 16 years of existence of this great festival, I have headed CONARTE five (years). I receive it then, with great pleasure, with great honor, representing the organization that I head, but also from previous generations who have been working together. I would like to dedicate a thought on behalf of Alejandra Rangel, the first president of CONARTE, and who headed this organization at a historic moment for everyone in terms of culture», he said.

The tribute began with the projection of a historical tour of the contribution of CONARTE and concluded with the congratulations of writers, directors, and cultural promoters who celebrated the existence and support of the institution.
