The success of the feature film “I Lost my Body”, was not an immediate achievement for the director, as Jérémy Clapin shared, who talked with Juan Manuel González, director of the ficmonterrey, as part of the KinoStart Lab section.

Along with the conversation with the film director, and through technology, they could scrutinize the characters in the play that gave him an Oscar nomination, as well as the creative process to develop the adaptation of Guillaume Laurant’s novel, called «Happy Hand», he had to make his interpretation.

According to the French director, the time and the difficulties he experienced in the animated film allowed him to work on it and conclude it as today can be enjoyed on a digital platform.

«It was the first time I started from material that wasn’t mine, it was someone else’s story and the first two years weren’t very good for me, I started working on the script for two years. I started a second attempt, reconstructing everything, there were many changes, well we had a lot of time to reflect, I was putting narrative layers… after four or five years with the script, we went to the StoryBoard and there were many things that had to be rewritten, the fact that no one wanted this film, that no one believed in it, gave us a lot of time and this is what today allows us to have many rewards today», he said.

Clapin, who expressed his interest to be physically present at a future edition of the ficmonterrey, answered questions to young people who registered on the platform of the Festival.

The #16ficmonterrey is possible thanks to the support of the Secretariat of Culture, the Mexican Institute of Cinematography, the Government of Nuevo León through the Council for Culture and the Arts (CONARTE), the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León through the Secretariat of Extension and Culture and Cinépolis-Sala de Arte.
