Round Table Mensaje Interrumpido

Mensaje Interrumpido is a documentary produced by Article 19. A tough portrait of the violence journalists experience in Mexico. In this conversation the journalists will share their vision and experience of the situation after the production and exhibition of the documentary. It will be on Wednesday, August 19 at 17:00, with the participation of Jaime Fraire, Juan Vázquez and journalists Jesús González, Flor Hernández, Ernesto Aroche, and Mayra Cisneros. The transmission will be on Facebook of ficmonterrey, and Cultura San Pedro. PRIZE AWARDING CEREMONY OF UANL SHORT FILM COMPETITION 

In collaboration with the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, this year the winning short films of the university Competition will be exhibited on the Facebook of the Festival and Cultura UANL. The appointment is on Sunday 16 August at 17:00 h.

IN MEMORIAM

The filmmaker from Nuevo León, Dave Carrizosa, nature and film lover, developed a personal vision originated in the simplicity of the north, and the rescue of the quotidian. Just a few days after his death, this sixteenth edition has prepared a microsite on the Festival’s website where you can watch his previous productions, free access, from 13 to 20 August.

His short film “The Nightfall of the Prince”, is in the Mexican competition, as several of his works have been in previous years, including “El hombre de las gerberas”, which won the cabrito de plata for Best Feature Film in Nuevo León in 2013. 

The 16th edition of the Monterrey International Film Festival received 1,407 films from 67 countries, of which 72 were selected from 26 countries -for all categories- such as Mexico, Spain, Finland, Poland, Japan, and China. In feature films, the Festival will present 16 films, 8 international and 8 Mexican.

The #16ficmonterrey is possible thanks to the support of the Secretariat of Culture, the Mexican Institute of Cinematography, the Government of Nuevo León through the Council for Culture and the Arts (CONARTE), the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León through the Secretariat of Extension and Culture and Cinépolis-Sala de Arte.
